This Inner Mongolian song was written for a film in 1952. The melody came first but the words are new. It's about a boy waiting for his girl and she hasn't shown up, but she is just making him wait on purpose. If you want the flowers to bloom, you have to wait for the rain to fall. Ao Bao is a mound between countries, a convenient meeting point. As the only landmark for hundreds of miles, it served as a place for games, sport, singing and dancing, especially during holidays or for lovers.

Aobao Meeting
As the full moon rises, why are there no clouds?
I await a beautiful maiden, why do you not come?
If there is no rain in the sky, begonias will not open.
As long as you wait patiently, brother, your beloved will come to you.
